A powerful pause
What is one single thing, that you can do every day, that can lighten your load, slow things down a bit, brighten your day, bring a smile to your face, give the heart and mind a little space? Pause. That’s it. Stop what you’re doing for a moment. Hit the pause button from work, social media, meetings, errands, whatever you’re reading, listening to, planning… Pause and breathe for just a moment or two.
It’s a moment to take stock, how am I doing, what am I doing, how does this feel, am I stressed, anxious, or on-a-roll? Shall I continue what I’m doing or take a moment to decide if this is perhaps, not the best use of my energy. It’s a moment to acknowledge the stress or anxiety you may be feeling. Naming how we feel can begin to alleviate its intensity. Or you may recognize that you’re in a good place, on-a-roll and feeling great, which helps to “hardwire happiness”, a practice taught by Rick Hansen.
A short but powerful pause can help us to live on purpose, to stop a cycle of anxiety and/or nourish what’s going well. Pausing is good self-care, calms the nervous system and builds resilience. It helps you to know yourself.
A calm nervous system, some space to feel, a sense of ease can even lead to more confidence, a feeling of inner-strength, and dare I say, a bit of inner peace.
There are lots of things we can do to nourish our lives, our inner world, our spirit, our reproductive health, even in the throes of difficult conception.
Join us this Sunday on Fertility Road. The Zoom gathering starts at 9:30. We go until we’re done.
Don’t let fear or negative thoughts or anxiety bounce around in your head. Come share it with the rest of us. We need to air that stuff out, give it some space, recognize that you’re not the only one who feels and thinks that way.
