Use Everything You’ve Got
In a situation where nothing seems to be in your control, it takes courage, creative thinking, sometimes ALL your energy, and a circle of trusted, understanding companions. The path that you originally mapped out has probably changed, maybe several times. The fertility gateway drug, clomid, didn’t work, three times! OK, lets try Clomid and IUI another couple of times. OK then, Follistem, Ovidril and IUI… Geez, really? I’m doing IVF now? Or perhaps you’ve experienced chemical, early or recurrant miscarriages. Then there’s all the second guessing. “I should have done…” or “I should have gone to…” or “why didn’t we…”. It’s a fertility quagmire.
Have you ever been lost in a city where you’ve never been? at night? alone? oh, and its raining. Now, imagine being lost in a city where you’ve never been, with a friend, day or night, rain or shine. When you’re not alone, it’s much less scary, less anxiety provoking, even more of an adventure. You take a wrong turn or wrong exit, no worries, you have support. It’s OK, we’ll just get off at the next exit and go back. A burden shared is a burden lightened.
Even if you have a spouse to help with navigation (back to the fertility trip), the guys experience and process things very differently. That of course, is a broad generalization, but mostly true. Guys generally don’t need to talk about difficulties as much as women. Even friends who you know love you, sometimes offer unsolicited or unhelpful suggestions and advise. It’s loving and sympathetic and also hurtful at times. They don’t seem to get how it feels. Of course, there are wonderful exceptions.
The Fertile Mind-Fertile Body Workshop includes women in all stages of difficult conception. These are women who are determined to make a family and are willing to hike into unknown territories. Luckily, the group includes others who have tread where some have yet to go. And they’re willing to use everything they’ve got. So we come together to explore our inner resources, to refine skills that promote better health (physical, mental and emotional) and to give a helping hand to others in an even more difficult situation.
We’ll start an 8-week group on September 12th. Each week we learn ways to allow our situation to be what it is, without giving up; to hold and honor our experiences while not being consumed by them; to create some peacefulness in the midst of such a difficulty. Creating new life is, after all, and always will be, sacred work. It deserves all of what we are and all that we have.
So, lets begin. There are a few seats left for this fall’s group. You can find details at www.Heal-from-Within.com. If this work resonates with you at all, call 202-244-2289 or register now. You have much to gain.
